Wrong!   Charity is not a government function.

It's true that we have "let" government take care of problems that we would
rather not deal with ourselves - like caring for our elderly parents and
others in need.  The fact that we "let" them do so doesn't make it right or
moral.

Elected officials are supposed to clear the pathways for us, make sure the
playing field is level (fair), and protect us from bullies, foreign and
domestic.

We are responsible for our own welfare, our own pursuit of happiness, our
own success, our own failure.
