Apparently civility and respect did not make the list
of Green values if they are endorsing STRIDE. The
tactics employed by STRIDE thus far are embarrassing
to witness, I'm all for an honest discussion of the
impacts of this project but time and again the folks
at STRIDE choose to focus on personalities and
demonizing supporters of this project.

Actually, I'd like to know what Scott bases his
opinion on - I know Scott contributed to the Excess
Project for the last few months of it, but he missed a
great deal during the 4 years+ that it was underway.
Project organizers have done their best to marginalize
and demonize anyone who opposes the project - I can
quote specifics if you'd like - I can even quote
"facts" that were given about opposition, including
STRIDE by project promoters to people who reported
these things back to STRIDE; these are reliable
people, some are elected officials! Yes, there are a
lot of dirty tactics being employed, but to blame on
STRIDE is way off the mark. From my observation,
STRIDE uses an amusing blend of satire and humor to
get at some of the really rotten dynamics of the
behind-the-scenes politics and deals that have been
made in connection to the Excess Project. OK, that
can tend to offend some of the thinner-skinned among
us, but as the Robbie Williams song says "Some times
you have to get the joke".

Congratulations to the Greens for endorsing STRIDE
(STRIDE is not a single issue organization, by the
way)! Once again, the Greens are ignoring pressure
from the big money interests, and doing what is right
for the residents.

What is very interesting, is that the DFL has remained
largely silent on the issue, despite the fact that it
goes against so much of what the DFL claims to stand
for. Peter McLaughlin has championed this freeway
expansion project. Other DFL leaders who originally
supported the project, like Sharon Sayles Belton,
withdrew their support when MNDoT turned it into an
expansion project.
