FYI -

Here is the statement from the Green Party of MN Coordinating Committee.

I do not think it necessarily means the committee endorses every specific
tactic, graphic or strategy of the group, but clearly they want to go on record
joining with STRIDE to oppose the ramps and the I-35W Access project and support
other transit alternatives.

Green Party of Minnesota endorses STRIDE

The Green Party of MN Coordinating Committee agreed unanimously to endorse
the initiative of citizen group Southside Traffic Reduction Initiative
Determining our Environment (STRIDE).

The current $150 million I-35W Access project in Minneapolis proposes a
southbound exit and northbound entrance at Lake Street, as well as a new
freeway off-ramp from northbound 35W to 28th Street. The new ramps will mean
demolition of dozens of homes and businesses. Lake Street will be widened to
as many as eight lanes in order to accommodate additional automobile
traffic.

STRIDE advocates for the "Transit/No Ramps" option for 35W. As a solution to
congestion, STRIDE supports a dedicated busway in the middle of I-35W with a
state-of-the-art transit station at Lake Street as proposed by the I-35W
Access Mitigation and Enhancement Committee. This grassroots, community
organization opposes any new ramps, as well as the widening of Lake Street.
When Lake Street is completely redone in the next ten years STRIDE favors
strong pedestrian streetscaping, no more lanes for traffic, and a trolley or
LRT in the Midtown Greenway corridor.

In the interests of grassroots democracy and community building, the Green
Party of Minnesota joins STRIDE in its efforts to oppose community decisions
being made by major corporate employers and to bring the vision of the
people to fruition.
