I am unable to attend this hearing, so I called to state my opposition to this bill. I was asked to put my opposition in writing and then email it off so copies could be made.

If anyone is interested in doing the same, here's the info.

Subject: [Mpls] concealed carry hearing in the MN Senate
Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 15:29:09 -0600

I just wanted everyone to know that on Monday the Crime
Prevention Committee, chaired by Sen. Leo Foley, will take
testimony on the concealed carry bill(s) being considered
this year. I know members of this list have had many
discussions on this issue, and I don't want to restart that
thread, but I wanted people to think about coming to the
capitol to testify if you feel strongly about its effect on our
Mpls neighborhoods.

And business owners may want to weigh in on the proposal
to require that if you want to restrict guns from your
establishment, you have to provide liability insurance and
lockboxes in which your patrons can stow their guns, but to
which they have access at all times.

And anyone who likes to go to bars, sporting events,
church, theaters, and other public events might just have an
opinion to share too.

The hearing is in Room G15 in the capitol. 12:30 to 3 PM.

If you would like to testify, you can call Sen. Foley's office at
651 296 4878 or 651 296 4154.

North Mpls
