There have been a number of responses on the list questioning my assertions about STRIDE. Not only have I visited STRIDE's website frequently since it went up I have also read the posts of those publicly associated with STRIDE. I think it is a fair statement to say that STRIDE leans a bit out of the mainstream (nothing wrong with that, they are more than entitled to do whatever they see fit). Now if the anonymous creators of raucous caucus would have the courage to put their names on their material I'm sure we would find more than a little cross pollination with STRIDE. My assertion continues to be that while these groups can do as they please their net effect on the issues they espouse is overwhelmingly negative and destructive.
I know and have worked with some wonderful and fair-minded people who oppose or question parts the Access Project for a variety of reasons. I hope these folks don't climb into bed with an organization that continues to use below the belt tactics. I'd also love to hear if STRIDE really has the numbers it claims, I heard from a couple of people who attended the January meeting of STRIDE that 34 showed up and 9 supported the Access Project. If those January accounts are true I get 25 people at a meeting that STRIDE claims on their website had 50 attendees. I can only speculate about the numbers discrepancy but it seems that a group that is so concerned with accuracy would inflate their own numbers. There is no doubt in my mind that STRIDE is vocal but are they accurate and truthful in their accounting of their activities? I am skeptical to say the least. Have a great weekend list, I'm out of posts. Scott Persons Lyndale Neighborhood Ward 10 TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Send all posts in plain-text format. 2.
