Unlike many kinds of difficult cuts the park board could and did make - eliminating positions, shortening hours, operational changes - closing the wading pools will hit our community in a very unique way. Now in half of the parks where there used to be kids and adults cooling off on a hot summer day, park users will be faced with an empty, concrete hole - a sad reminder about the challenges facing our community.
