Phyllis Kahn scolds the list for not mentioning the North girls: Did I miss it (my apologies if I did) or did the list have a similar number of posts congratulating the North High girls basketball team when it won the State tournament (3A class) last week? Do we need a little Title IX attention for the list?
Scott here: I would be remiss as a hoops fan not to extend the kudos to our Gopher women who advanced to the sweet 16 last night. Now we have a banner we can hang from Williams arena and I am reasonably sure it won't be taken down for any violations :) Lindsay, Corinne, Shaq and the gang are a lot of fun to watch! As to the issue of Title IX, can Phyllis update the list as to how our Gopher women's crew team is doing this year. For those who don't know, this is the program we created out of thin air due to Title IX regulations, at quite a hefty price. I'm all for equality of opportunity but to create a sport out of thin air just to even up overall participation numbers is downright farcical. Trying not to sound like Sid Hartman, Scott Persons Lyndale Neighborhood TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Send all posts in plain-text format. 2. Cut as much of the post you're responding to as possible. ________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
