>From Army Magazine, May 2002..... "Unfortunately, bullets in the 21st century are not as expendable as we once believed. In fact, years later they still have a clean-up cost associated with them due to the projectile's high lead content and potential impact on the environment. Green ammunition has been developed to reduce the need for clean-up and with it, the overall true life-cycle cost of a bullet."
Vicky adds: I argue that the increase in bullets flying around Minneapolis, and their residue, is more likely responsible for increased lead levels in children. Gunpowder is 95% lead - and it drifts all over the place as shots are fired. Just handling bullets distributes high concentrations of lead indoors and outdoors. (It should be noted that paint has not contained lead since 1977.) I suggest that the Greens get in gear and pass an ordinance requiring all gang members and gun toting thugs to switch to "green" bullets. We should follow in the footsteps of the U. S.
