Moving to chase consumers from the high ground they gained over the weekend on this and other lists, Target's elite PR corps (mis)fires a barrage of disinformation...

Officials from Target Corp. said in a news release Tuesday afternoon that "several prospective buyers" have expressed interest in the property at 701 W. Broadway.
"Target Corp. has received multiple offers, including prospective buyers that would include retail components," the statement said.

And with this vague statement Target hopes we'll forget about bringing in a competitor that will chase them right out of town. Target, we may quiet down for a while but you're just putting off the inevitable closing and boarding of this first of many stores. So Target, you've escaped protests today, but face a more damaging holiday season boycott when the Northside Target is boarded with no buyer in sight.

In less than a week Target has managed to unite the Northside. With the announcement of their surveillence camera gift to MPD they've managed to unite the city... against Target! Target has given us a quick education on redlining, and given us cause to study up on a retailer that can't run because we own it... the cooperative.

Cooperatives are locally controlled by their customer owners. They can take a variety of forms- there are co-op convience stores, lumber yards, auto parts stores, hardware stores, and pet supply stores in the midwest. The customer/owners decide what to stock, not some fantasy marketers in a downtown tower. And at the rate Target Corp. is going we're going to end up with a co-op at the southwest corner of Broadway & Lyndale.
