Thomas,
I know Superman and Batman and this is no Superman and Batman. Nor does it seem like John Wayne. Bearing in mind that there is still an investigation and other facts might come out, as I read it, the first officer wasn't wrestling with the driver but rather trying to keep him from speeding off when the driver sped off with Boyd's arm pinned inside the vehicle. He was being dragged. Should the other officer have just stood by and watched him get dragged? Should he have shot out the tires like they do on TV? Or should have tried to stop the vehicle as he did?
More information may come out, but from what I see right now, Bohnsack jumped into the vehicle to try and save his partner's life, stop the driver and prevent any other loss of life by civilians on the street. It is terrible that it came to the head that it did, but it reads much more like an officer reacting to protect than TJ Hooker. Had he not jumped in, his partner might have been killed, along with the driver and any number of pedestrians that might have been in the way. We should reevaluate when all the facts are out, but for now, this reads more like an officer forced into a bad situation than playing a bad movie.
