Michael Hohmann has some great observations about teacher accountability, labor contracts, and the future of education in Minneapolis. I won't quote it but it is a must-read whether you agree with his assertions or not. My two cents, let's install those Target cameras in our classrooms, I for one would rather identify underperforming teachers and disruptive students (I can just imagine showing these tapes to parents in denial about their child's behavior), we could also use the cameras to identify the truly outstanding talent we have in our public schools (there is a ton of it and needs to be recognized and celebrated). This would seem to be a much better use of cameras than catching public urination on Nicollet Mall.
