I talked directly to Tex myself today. I had quite an easy time talking with him.
Yes, parents need to transport their kids themselves. The program is at the St. Paul campus. This will be the biggest limitation for many inner city kids.
Many inner-city kids are insured through medical assistance so the very poorest kids should not have any limitations from this. It will be the kids of the working poor that may have difficulty. Many of those kids are on Minnesota care so I am not sure that lack of health insurance will be the biggest obstacle on this one.
You only need internet access to print off the application for the program. The application needs to be faxed. The libraries have free internet access. You could print off a bunch of applications and drop them at the park Dennis. That would certainly help. I don't know about costs or availability for faxing. I am sure the neighborhood offices would help with that if need be.
I am not sure how many parents of the kids we would like to reach out to with this opportunity monitor this list. My hunch is very few if any.
That's what I know.
