At the risk of sounding Republican, what on earth would their race or gender have to do with their ability and qualifications to do the job? I suppose there was a time when I thought that if a minority group was getting unfair treatment, a leader of the same ethnographic would help balance things out. The letters SSB have cured me of that misconception. I do feel that the person hired should have a strong understanding of our local issues and cultures. They should need to be comfortable interacting with the communities that have been most impacted by poor relations with our police force. What there gender and ethnic roots are makes little difference to me. I would be appalled if someone was denied the job for these reasons. I would also be fairly uncomfortable with the idea of someone getting the job for these reasons. - Jason Goray Sheridan NE [writing tired and hoping there aren't any more SNAFUs in this one. two posts and out.] __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
