The Midtown Greenway Coalition and Intermedia Arts have put together one of the best and most family-friendly July 4 celebrations in the city.  Kids activities, the Parade of Bikes, the ArtCar Parade, and the Concert and party in the Greenway will be terrific!

Last year I was able to ride in the ArtCar Parade, and this year the Sustainable Transportation Project will ride with the Midtown Greenway Coalition in the ArtCar Parade as well.  It looks like we'll have two pedicabs, a wonderfully decorated OrganicEngines SUV  cargo trike, and very likely one or more "Cab-bikes" from Germany.

The Cab-bikes are actually very well engineered trikes fully-fared with an egg-shaped shell, windshield and windshield wiper, side windows, and a great panoramic periscope rearview mirror....you can check out the website on the internet to see them in advance if you like.  Try this link:

Two of us from the Sustainable Transportation Project will give free pedicab rides on the Greenway, and another pedicabber from Minneapolis may be able to join us as well.  Live music, food, facepainting, and much more cool stuff will happen in the Greenway -- and you get a free ride, too!  For more information check out this site:

Of course, The Parade of Bikes will tour along the Greenway from our city to St Louis Park and Hopkins and back again as well....more info?....check out:

It looks like the Midtown Greenway Coalition and STP and other bikers and peds  (all are welcome!) will gather outside "The Egg & I " restaurant near Intermedia Arts at about 1:45 or so.  We will join in the ArtCar Parade stretching along Lake Street to 5th Avenue and down to the Greenway.

Check out this great celebration, fellow Minneapolitans!  There are wonderful activities all day for all kinds of people!  Fellow List members -- look for the pedicabs and the cargo trike and introduce yourselves.  I'm the graying bearded guy who is nearly impossible to peel off the pedals!  You'll know me when you see me....come and say hello!

-- still pedaling for peace.....
