Today I was downtown walking by City Hall and I noticed the Deputy Fire Chief's car parked next to a fire hydrant.
So here is a FIRE CHIEF, parking his city owned-marked fire department car next to a fire hydrant right outside city hall.
What message does this send to the citizens of Minneapolis? What does this say to visitors to our city?
If the police are going to increase enforcement of parking violations, shouldn't we expect that our city officials would set an appropriate example?
This "I'm a cop/firefighter and the rules don't apply to me" attitude is something that needs to change.
Last week I was dropping some mail at the main post office, a police officer turns on the red lights on the squad car and makes a u-turn. I pull over thinking he/she is responding to a call. Not - the officer made the u-turn to get to get to the mailbox. If you or I made an illegal u-turn like that in the middle of traffic we'd get a citation.
The rules apply to everone, a badge is not an exemption.
