This is purely hearsay, but is supposedly from a recurrence of the dreaded
"Dutch Elm" disease of 20 years ago.

Subject: [Mpls] Tree-cutting season?

Is it time to cut down old and dying trees or what?
In my Northeast neighborhood I am noticing a lot of
trees with the orange line around the truck, and many
are being cut down. Is this normal? It seems like a
lot more than in past years, and all the trees seem to
be very large and old. Anyone with some insights?
