I love my elm, it's huge and shades the entire west half of my house and I can't even imagine losing it. MY AC bill is half the price it would be without it. We are on a three-year treatment schedule (just treated last year) and are crossing our fingers with the latest run of Dutch elm. Are there any knowledgeable horticulture types who know if an elm can be treated this summer to defend against Dutch elm disease?
I also remember reading a couple years back about resistant new elm trees that are quite popular in many parts of the country for those who may be planting trees this year.
