Keith says; While you are passing out the thanks, you might consider Leslie
Davis, Earth Protector, in the proper light; historically, and today. You would
thank him each time you take a breath if you knew his gratis efforts for
cleaner air; and against The Burner (fraud).

You wish to phase out the burner; OK. He fought tooth and nail to stop it
from being built; and then operated. And then fought for proper monitoring, and
tighter limits, of the emissions.

You may know, but you did not mention, that as recently as this week, he
appeared before some hearing body regarding solid waste disposal. While there, he
forced further review of handling, and disposal, of solid waste material by
presenting a petition with numerous signatures.

He had investigated the corporate proposals, and the commissions desire to
rubber stamp and approve same. He thought it stunk (use your imagination here),
and he took the time, and effort to contest the matter. He has forced further
review.

I am vague cause I went over to his office to discuss other matters. He just
mentioned where he had been the day before and why he was so behind on some
other business (also of fighting for a better environment).

I was moving kinda' quick, but it was about the solid waste producers want to
find creative ways to utilize the solid waste (sounds good). They want to pay
a "guy" fewer bucks to take it away then they must pay now (OK). He will make
bricks out of it and thus create a reusable product (sounds great).

But wait a sec; slow down. What if they pay this guy a nickel and a dime to
haul a mountain of this toxic clinker/slag; and now, suddenly, it is no longer
labeled solid waste. Perhaps now the originator is no longer liable for it. It
has become "building material" cause two hundred, or two thousand bricks were
created; as a demonstration. Brick boy goes belly up, bankrupt, and over the
hill. Now who gets to pay for clean up of this mountain of crap.

Possible Answer: State of Mn; the rest of us.

As I said, I just listened in, and was not even thinking about posting this
info till I read Mr. Hornstein's note of thanx to elsewhere.

If anyone is more curious I will consider it my duty to bring you all back
the actual specifics. Please ask on-line.

I will close by saying my personal observations of Leslie Davis work, for the
last four years (that I have been his landlord) show incredible efforts
toward cleaner air, water, and land. And protection of animals from inhumane
treatment. All efforts have been a personal, and mostly unfinanced, effort on his
part. Over, and over again; and I am witness.

If you think there is a whiff of cronyism from Smith Parker; you have little
idea, nor do I, how tight the embrace, statewide, the Corporate/Government
complex is, in power generation, solid waste disposal, and general pollution.
Leslie Davis does know, but there is no money in fighting the system. System
proponents; who he must bump up against, get huge dough. He has done it for free,
over and over. And people roll their eyes when he alights the podium. They are
wrong.

This man is living proof: No good deed will go unpunished (or rewarded).

I think I am on record regarding how little I like Do-goodin' NonProfiteers.
He does good, and there is no profit; in fact he reaches into his own tattered
pocket. This is no simple tree hugger; this man has earned my respect for his
efforts.

Look closer at Leslie Davis; he actually gives do-gooder a good name.

2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject
