Margaret Hastings asks: Again, Mayor Rybak...do you have a response to this expensive effort to keep pushing people who are homeless away from the only refuge they can sometimes find?
Peter chimes in: Don't hold your breath waiting for a response from Mayor Rybak, Margaret. While he can write me off as a radical and malcontent (I admit that my rhetoric can be too harsh, too excessive), it's absolutely Nixonian of him to disregard you, as well as the List Manager who has gone out of his way to be fair to our local politicians. The Mayor simply doesn't care. He's retreating into his own world. Just like Tricky Dick. Earlier this week, someone on the list asked us to consider the things that Mayor Rybak does well. Here's my response. 1) The Mayor does a great job color coordinating his shirt, neckties, shoes and trousers. 2) The Mayor sure knows how to open the door for people. (I've seen him do it, and believe me, he's really good at it!) 3) The Mayor does an exemplary job of sticking up for ALL our police officers. 4) Despite the above, the Mayor is not afraid to defend one of our most conservative council members, Barret Lane, when he's being bashed by a few disgruntled police officers. 5) The Mayor sure knows when to choose his battles. For example, remaining silent when a few disgruntled police officers called for the resignation of Natalie Johnson Lee, the only woman of color on our city council. 6) The Mayor has stopped nagging the airline industry about airport noise. (That shows real maturity on his part.) 7) The Mayor does a good imitation of Bill Clinton (waffling and triangulation). 8) The Mayor sure knows how to pick his barber!!!! He'd be a great cover boy for GQ or Details. Peter Schmitz CARAG TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait. 2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject (Mpls-specific, of course.) ________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
