Joe has an excelent point, esp when it comes to the U of M supplying a some
police resources. We can all remember the problems with the hockey team
riots. Besides that, the year round expenses incurred by the city policing
around the campus and U of M events. Since the Univ school yet doesn't
start for a few more weeks, I cannot see any reason the U can't reassign
several officers over here to help out. Since all Univ land and bldgs are
tax-exempt, it would certainly be a way for the campus to be a good neighbor
with a bit of community outreach to the city. Perhaps Mr Zirby can help
with this idea. By the way, lasttime I checked, the U of M had about 60
full-time cops and they got paid more than Mpls cops.

1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait.
2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject
(Mpls-specific, of course.)
