One of the changes that the Councilmember issued the call to action for was that of 250 volunteers from across the city to help kick off the new Jordan Street Patrol. And so this request is out to everyone in the city and open to anyone anywhere. We need volunteers. We're asking for people to come out or contact us and sign up for at least one 2-hour shift over the next 3 months to help get this initiative started.
Organized by the Jordan Area Community Council and MAD DADs, this program will establish a presence in the community and send a clear message to the drug dealers and gangbangers (most of whom are not from the neighborhood but come in to deal) that their presence is not welcome here or in any other part of the city.
To that end, we're specifically asking street walkers and block patrol members from other neighborhoods to come out this weekend in their neighborhood's attire to show solidarity against crime. So Lyndale, Stevens Square, Loring Park and everywhere, we need your help. We kick off tonight with a peace rally at 6:00pm at the community garden at 26th and Knox. Please contact me with any questions and come out to show support for our whole city against crime.
