Yet St. Paul is managing better than we are, without raising taxes. Why?

Ron writes:
The state gave a lot of money to build the Excel Center, and that is a huge
part of St Paul's renaissance.

MG writes:
We spent ourselves into a big deep hole by using budget chicanery to hide
the fact that we were spending faster than the money was coming in. The
fault lies with us, not Ventura, not the legislature. We let the mayor and
council get away with it.

Ron writes:
Not completely true, after all we did vote many of the big spenders out of
office. Ventura is responsible for changing the tax laws that have hurt
Mpls with its tax base. We did do a wonderful job of spending more than we
had though. It would be nice if Target could help us out since we helped
them out (but I will not hold my breath).

Thank you MG for pointing out some of this too us however.

1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait.
2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject
(Mpls-specific, of course.)
