To Ed. I am glad you are not being paid by Sabri Properties. I voted for you in last election for County Commissioner.

Hey, Wizard. I really appreciate the work you have done on behalf of libraries, particularly Hosmer, which is one of the places that I count as the blessings of South Minneapolis. But if you have any hard evidence that more auto traffic pouring on and off an expressway is going to make life better in South Minneapolis when you clearly think that 35W made life worse, I have yet to see it.

Folks, you both mischaracterize what I said in my post.

I never warned people of "danger" in Sabri's accumulation of property on Lake Street. I merely observed that he was steadily acquiring more valuable property and politcal clout. I never claimed as fact that you were on Sabri's payroll, Ed. I had my reasons to wonder, and I asked you to clarify, though it is true I speculated on what it would mean if you were. I will cop to being pretty irritated by the boosterism in Lake Street Plaza article and still think it was fluff. You answered the question, thank you.

As for you, Wizard, you pack a lot of stuff in your rebuttal that I never addressed, and I did leave Brian Herron's "mistake" out of it, by the way. I reread my post and noted that I wasn't particularly harsh about Peter McLaughlin. What aspersions did I cast about him? What did I say that wasn't true? I did say that his mayoral aspirations were rumored.

Finally, I love it when people quote Bob Dylan to me as wisdom. Here's my Funkadelic response.

"From time to time we come alive
But not for very long
See what shape the world is in
And wonder what went wrong

Never dreaming, not for a second
That sleeping is the cause
We make solutions in our sleep
It's dangerous for us all"

Trying to stay awake. . . .
