So now I'm a 'racist' and representative of the 'plantation bosses'? I will try to remain civil. I understand that Peter is simply a twenty-something year old bootlicker of Edwards who lives out on the West Coast and has never interacted with these people he slings names and assign sinister intent to, that he seems to know our motives. Peter's guilt must be enormous. He's telling me about my own folks and the conversations and observations we discuss behind closed doors.
Peter demostrates his position by stating- "Ron is only a spokesman if you seek someone wanting to speak for truth for all, for someone wanting equal access and equal opportunity for all, Black or White or other."- So, there we have it, the hell with truth, Ron Edwards is the only truth we need. More name calling when he states -"Al and his friends represent the Planatation bosses. Ron represents the field hands."- And, finally he tells us all what shrine he worships at with the statement... "Lets again go the "Bible, the source," Ron Edwards' book..." The Bible? Ron's book? Man, your obsession with Ron goes beyond you just trying to sell a book (which you didn't), I think you think he's Jesus. Ron and Doug Mann are both losers in the world of elective representation. Anyone can call themselves a voice for the community but, when it comes to actually getting the community to come out and support them in their endeavors (on behalf of said community), the truth is shown. Ron was embarassed by the NAACP and waited before complaining about the structure. Edwards is a long time community activist, I would think he'd have an understanding of the process. As with his critique of the DFL, he blames the 'man' for stacking the deck against his success. It just couldn't be that his style, approach and lack of solutions were rejected by those who look like him? The same ones he 'speaks' for. Naw, they are all a bunch Uncle Tom sellouts. Doug Mann too has been rejected more than once and has an ax to grind with the DFL, NAACP and Mpls Public Schools. A random look at his e-mails will show this. This "blame the 'man' and if you don't agree with me you're a sellout" crap is so old. Ron does half the job, he points at what is wrong but offers no viable strategy to correct it. He also never seem to ask himself "What can I do now?". Even with the things he highlights that are glaring truths, he readily ties a conspiracy to it and loose potential support because of his personal issue with individuals and institutions. Gallmon cited one issue that is part of a complex problem and has put forth a way to address that one issue with this center. Its one factor of many. That's it. There is still the ongoing efforts to fight for equal resources and fair policies. There is institutional racism, but its not from the people who suggest that parents get very involved in their kids education. Your attacks on Gallmon only provides a sheild for those who really don't give a damn about the kids in these schools. For the record, I grew up in the southside of Chicago and graduated out of the public school system. Though I was a bit of a discipline problem (easily agitated - and quick to confront), I still made top grades and test scores. Definitly not because of abundant resourses or the lack of crime, it was my parents constant involvement with our teachers and homework. This whole thing isn't about education, it's about a personal vendetta, a book that won't sell, and a kid trying to make a name for himself. What a waste.
