What did happen at Ventura Village the evening that
Basim Sabri and Zack Metoyer tried to "take over the
meeting?"
My understanding, from talking with Basim this
morning, is that Basim wanted the neighborhood
organization to discuss and hopefully approve a small
change in one of his development projects. Many
Somali businesspeople from his Somali bazaar came to
the meeting to hear the discussion and they wanted
to participate. They were continually ruled out of
order by the Chair. They were told they didn't
understand Robert's Rules of Order. They got
frustrated. (snip) They felt they were being racially
discriminated against.

Yes, what DID happen? I wasn't at the meeting, but
would hardly consider a conversation with Basim to be
anything close to the whole story, regardless of
subject matter! Basim has proven that he is a skilled
manipulator, a fact documented in the FBI recordings
of him during the Herron debacle. The reports I have
heard about the Ventura Village incident indicate that
while some folks may have intentionally wanted the
Somali members' disgust to appear directed at the
leadership of Ventura Village, they actually agreed
with the leadership and were upset with Basim Sabri.
Can someone who attended please confirm or deny that?
