Does anyone know if the tree cutting crews have been themselves cut? I
know there's been a resurgence of Dutch Elm disease and the only way to stave
off the inevitable is to remove the diseased trees as fast as possible; but the
trees marked on my street have remained in their standing, if now defoliated,
state for most of the Summer. Even my untrained eye can see that all but one
of the remaining Elms on the street are also now sickened. Now they may have
been infected anyway, but isn't the idea to remove them swiftly? Oh well, maybe
we'll finally get a Spruce on Spruce Place.

    legally challenged cops:

An addendum to T.B's post: Grant Street, where the cops were lounging
their cars is a narrow artery between the Convention Center and the high rises
and Condos bordering Loring Park. Our Fire House is three blocks away from this
location. With the maze of one-ways and double sided parking that fire
fighters already have to negotiate in our neighborhood, I doubt they'd be overjoyed
with futher blockage (that being said, the parking lot outside Lotus has to be
the worst in town. With gas pumps angling off one corner, traffic in this tiny
space is sometimes trying to go six different directions). There's only about
thirty other economical restaurants nearby, maybe some have more convenient
parking.

1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait.
2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject
(Mpls-specific, of course.)
