I thought some list members would be interested in
participating and others would be asking themselves
Friday- now what is this about?

Minnesota Marches Against the World Trade Organization
(WTO) in Minneapolis!

Friday, September 12th
11:30 A.M. Gather at Peavey Plaza (Between 11th and 12
street on the Nicolett Mall)
12:00 March

Twin Cities protest the WTO!

As the World Trade Organization (WTO) meets behind
military blockades in Cancun, Mexico for their Fifth
Ministerial Summitt, the civil society of the world is
protesting in solidarity with the activists that have
made the trip to Mexico. The WTO is an undemocratic
international organization that undermines the
sovereinty of citizens in countries around the world.
It has the power to turn back hard won environmental
regulations. It has the power to set back union
organizing in the developing world. It has been
hurtful to the industrial workers of the U.S.
(especially the steelworkers). It has given
corporations an in road to pass over the regulations
of governments. And last but not least... the
deliberations are done behind closed doors. We as
United States citizens and people of all countries and
cultures have no way of knowing what the WTO is up
too.

On Friday, September 12th please join and march down
the Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis with the
union members, small farmers, danzantes, artists,
families, fire fighters, students, and the people of
the world to say YES to direct democracy, our unions,
our dignity, our communities, immigrant rights, and
control of our destinies. Join this march to say NO to
union busting, Plan Puebla Panama, Free Trade Area of
the Americas (FTAA), and privatization of the world's
water services. The endorsers of this event are:
Danza Mexica Cuautemoc, Resource Center of the
Americas, Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition, Arise!
Bookstore and Resource Center and North Country Co-op.
