I would recommend two places to consider for donating decent quality
bikes in Minneapolis. One is the "Grease Pit" a volunteer-run
cooperative bike space located in the basement below the Bedlam Theatre
on the West Bank. Access is in the back behind the building on the west
side of Cedar Avenue sort of across from Five Corners Bar. I don't have
the exact hours but they are generally open in the afternoons and early
evenings. They rehab bikes and either give them away or sell them for a
very modest cost. There is also a shop space for the public to work on
bikes at low cost and knowledgeable resource people are available to
help with advice. There is a great spirit to the place and they do a
lot with very limited financial resources and make an effort to reach
out to the Somali youth in the area.

Another space is the Hub Bike Co-op on Minnehaha just south of Lake
Street, across from the Resource Center of the Americas. The Hub may be
able to take a limited amount of bike donations, it depends on how
inundated they are. The Hub has made amazing progress in the short time
it has been open and is definitely worth checking out if you are in the
market for a used, new, or reconditioned bike or for parts and repairs.

Interesting, these two ventures are Minneapolis's "real" bike co-ops,
Freewheel Bike, despite still having the name "bike co-op" on their
painted sign, no longer has a cooperative structure as I understand it
(although it is still an excellent bike shop).
