One of the purposes of Minneapolis-Issues is to focus on issues that are
unique to Minneapolis (local ones) or those with inordinate, particular
Minneapolis effects.

Debating the rules takes away from the focus. Please don't send more posts
debating it.

This isn't some kind of Stalinist ploy - we're volunteers here, and I make a
good faith effort to be consistent. (Butterflies and bikes in Minneapolis is
unique to the city; congressional pay is national in scope. 'Nuff said.) Not
everyone likes the rules, but believe me, I don't look for ways to increase
your pain. I'm trying to keep the forum focused.

Should you have a major problem with the rules, PLEASE email me first. As
other members have noted, I try to mete out discipline privately to avoid
every disciplinary action becoming a list topic (tail-chasing).
Occasionally, when I know an errant post will go nuclear right away, I do
post to the list, but I try to make that the exception.

If someone wants to set up a forum to debate the rules, please let the list
know - once. There have been previous attempts at this that are very
low-traffic.

Now, please, back to our regularly scheduled discussion - within the scope
of the first paragraph.

PS While we do define the list as Minneapolis civics, THAT definition is
quite broad. The local environment and helping keep the waste stream down in
a local effort do qualify.

Best,
David Brauer
