Meanwhile, I have offered to settle the city's criminal charges of possession of peeling paint with a stipulated timetable of when the "problem" will be abated. The same city's attorneys have shown no interest in actually resolving the "problem" by such means, apparently preferring a substantial fine instead. Having just spent several hundred dollars on new windows and insulation for my home and with property taxes soon due, needless to say I have no money for fines,..
Another house up the street just spouted a "For Sale" sign, after but a few months occupancy the new owners have had it with the largely unpoliced drug dealing in front of them. After being on the market all year the other 3 homes remain unsold. Out in greater Minnesota property values are starting to rise and the best bargains are disappearing- perhaps it's time to retire early and beat the rush as the "baby boomers" abandon Minneapolis for the countryside.
