Steve Brandt has a story in today's Star Tribune regarding the latest in the Sears site redevelopment, "potentially the largest commercial redevelopment pending on the city's South Side." http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4144198.html Over the nine years since Sears has been boarded, I have heard rumors of everything from a casino, a water amusement park, a low-income housing complex, and mixed retail occupying the site. My vote would be for street level retail and a mixture of market-rate and affordable rental and owner-occupied condo units in a gutted and rehabbed Sears building and new construction of the same on the current Sears parking lot. However, I want to know what the residents in that area prefer. Has the neighborhood group passed a resolution regarding the redevelopment of that area?
