Who said CUABP is distancing ourselves from this case?

As I said before, we don't pick our cases--the cops do it for us. However, as an all-volunteer organization with a shoestring budget, we make decisions constantly about how much of our resources it makes sense to expend in various cases. In this particular case, a number of others are working with Mr. Porter and the others who were abused during the incident. While we've spent a good bit of time assisting the family earlier this week, it makes sense now for us to put our efforts toward other cases that are not receiving this level of attention and support from others in the community.

The other part of the dynamic is that whenever a case like this comes up and our name gets in the paper, we get a ton of phone calls on our hotline and, again, these are worthy cases that others will probably not take up. This is definitely happening now. So while we certainly continue to demand justice in the case of Stephen Porter, we are forced by circumstances to redirect our efforts toward other cases.

Finally, I presume that Dyna was referring to the fact that I haven't posted on the case since yesterday. Well, Dyna, I do work a very full-time job (about 50 hours a week) and raise a partially disabled child. And do a lot of community work through CUAPB and other organizations. So my ability to read and respond to emails is sometimes limited. Please don't interpret my inability to reply to emails as an indication of CUAPB's position on any particular issue. Our positions are decided collectively by the board and are not dependent on me putting them out on this list.

With his homies none too happy with him and CUAPB distancing themselves, Mr. Porter's sole defenders are Ron Edwards et al. Methinks even Mr. Edwards will soon tire of Mr. Porter's company, and Mr. Porter will appear at our county jail, begging to be readmitted for his own safety.
