Just some of the weekly e-mail conversations that neighbors in the Jordan neighborhood toss around. Does anyone have ideas or thoughts they would like to share on solutions to resolving or reducing crime in impacted communities?

For everyone who continually state that "they're only dealing marijuana" I feel you are wrong. I found out that yesterday one on the regular drug dealers raped one of the kids lives on my block -- a twelve year old, who has life will forever be different because crime is unofficially sanctioned in our neighborhood. What are the state troopers doing? How come the drug dealers are able to sit on the corners of 26th and James and 26th and Humboldt ALL DAY LONG? When the police drive by the dealers are aware know they flee, hide behind cars, and stroll up the block, perhaps knowing this why can't there be more undercover police? IT IS NOT ONLY MARIJUANA - not when one of our children is injured. Anyone who can turn a blind eye to our neighborhood needs to be yanked out of their comfortable bubble.

Usually, I am very optimistic person but every time something like this happens my optimistic nature diminishes. Please I am begging everyone on this list to use their power, resources or brain to come up with ideas for how we can combat this unacceptable behavior! I understand coming to the ideas that will ultimately lead to preventing assaults on children will not get as much media coverage as defending a convicted drug dealer, but this is the work that needs to be done when the CAMERAS are not on.

To add to the status quo on 26th, I was trying to do yardwork in my front yard today, and noticed the house across the street from mine seems to have opened up shop. (No house numbers on the front, but it's right between 2627 and 2619 Knox). I'll try to keep a list of license numbers- here's one: Black Jeep Cherokee, # CSC 957. White male, makes transaction at the door without ever stepping inside. Also, residents of house are coming out, getting in cars, going around the block and going back inside. Cars approaching the house every few minutes.

Letter to the Governer-

Hello Governor, > >You know, I really was hoping that I could abandon this letter, but it seems things aren't going as well as they should be. We do appreciate all your help sending the state troopers in etc, but sad to say it appears there effect was only temporary. Things have returned somewhat back to normal. At 6:00 tonight there were ~ 10-12 guys turning deals between Humboldt and James on 26th, and a guy in L/N: DVW 678, that said he is going to beat the crap out of me because I asked him to buy his drugs someplace else. >Thus you can see my sense is things got to keep changing, and I apologize for my dereliction of duty in not keeping the letters coming, sorry I was a bit to optimistic. I'm sure you also read the article in the Star & Tribune on the Jordan neighborhood, I think it painted a rather fair and balanced picture, and shows we are working from our end, but need some assistance on your end. I see where you have been rather inventive linking a drivers license with education. How about linking drug sales as well? You are also a big backer of the $87 Bil for Iraq program and the search for WMD's, how about a similar commitment from you and the Minnesota legislature for eliminating PMD? I think it would be great to organize a legislative delegation to visit the inner city such as the legislative delegations that have gone to Iraq. What do you think, couple congressmen and senators from Owatonna, Faribault, Iron Range, Red Wing, Chaska, spend a couple days touring the inner city? I think Rep. Sviggum or Rep. Ellis, Rep. Mullery, would be perfect to lead it. Maybe this is what it will take to get a little more vision on solving some of these problems instead of just rolling them round and round through the revolving judicial door. As always you know where I stand, there are plenty of $ in the street if we have the will power to solve problems instead of talking about them, and start hitting the demand side of the equation, starving the PMD side of the equation. > >Remember we are pulling for ya, >Best Rgds -----
