Lynnell Mickelsen is one of your city's unsung heroes, immersed in its education system and active in her community - not to mention one of your finest writers ever. Lynnell's humor, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to progressive values - REAL progressive values - are often used to strip the blinders off the emperor(s) prancing around naked, pretending to be dressed and to care about their community while exploiting its weaknesses for self-aggrandizement.
This is a woman for whom common sense should drive political and social decisions and institutions - and that would include a sideways look at demagogues from all sectors - so-called spokespeople the newspapers and other media outlets are too lazy to ignore or pander to because the fire and heat is more telegenic than the light coming from the communities in-the-trench worker to bring racism to an end, food to the hungry, education to the poverty-stricken and shelter to the homeless - among many others. Anyone trying to pigeonhole Lynnell Mickelsen will have to go through me first - and be ready for dirty fighting. And be very careful - she's very close to her divine recruit.
