Several members of the embattled Minneapolis branch of the NAACP said
Thursday that they were surprised to learn that their regular monthly meeting has
been postponed pending intervention from national headquarters.

As was noted in the Strib article, the decision to cancel the branch meeting
was made by the Minneapolis NAACP executive committee on Wednesday evening. I
think the branch exec is once against exceeding its authority.
I expect many who regularly attend the branch meetings and who heard about
the cancellation will show anyway. Some of us are interested in having a meeting
to discuss civil rights related stuff, like what's happening with the
schools, Hollman, police brutality, etc. We joined the NAACP because we want to be
civil / human rights activists. If there is a fairly large group and we don't
have access to facilities at the Urban League building, we will probably move to
an alternative site, such as Zion Baptist Church.
I plan to arrive at the coffee shop in the Urban League building on Plymouth
and Penn between 9:30 AM and 10 AM. I will have some copies of my new
pamphlet, "Flight from Equality" on hand.
