Vicky responds: The word "consistent" is a high compliment that I hope we all strive toward. The alternative would be contradictory, fuzzy thinking. Many listmembers try to squelch debate by hurling insults and framing issues in emotional terms. To avoid this, I use verifiable facts. I have three objectives to improve our City government, and this forum is one of my avenues for achieving them. They are: 1. Full disclosure: That is, the WHOLE truth, and nothing else. 2. Accurate, timely, consistent financial reporting to the public. 3. Public policy in agreement with the U. S. Constitution My postings point out serious deficiencies in Minneapolis in all three categories, and clearly, my work isn't done. Minneapolis residents haven't the foggiest idea about where the City's money comes from and where it goes. It is impossible to run a household, business, or City without knowing about income, expenses, assets, and debts. I still believe it's our duty and responsibility to know these things - otherwise, public money is a great risk for theft and misuse. Each person must pay attention and speak up when evidence of incompetence or corruption surfaces - to protect everyone - not for selfish reasons. Our form of government only works if its citizens are informed and active participants. Journalists are supposed to be the conduit of information. These safeguards are not working right now - but I will keep trying until I leave the City and State. I have nothing to gain or lose personally through my efforts. My perspective is based on my own experience: I came face to face with corrupt politics in Minneapolis, and I have spent most of my adult life designing and installing accounting systems for investment real estate applications. That's all that I bring to this party. Vicky Heller North Oaks REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules? Email the list manager at [EMAIL PROTECTED] before continuing it on the list. 2.
