The Minneapolis-Issues list and our sibling forum in Winona will be featured
on MPR (91.1 FM) tonight, sometime between 5:45 and 6 p.m.

It's part of their Democracy series.

If you miss it, and want to hear it, I'm told it will be on mpr.org tonight.

They interviewed a political science professor - Larry Jacobson (I think), Brauer, Clift and a Winona forum person.

The Professor said these forums don't tend to bring new people into the political process, but rather serve to amplify voices of people already active. From what I've seen here on this forum, I think it's a fair criticism. I think if these forums were to reach a more diverse audience, and get more diverse participation, there would need to be significant outreach to grow these forums.

There are now several spanish language newspapers here in Minneapolis. Does anyone know of any spanish language - or other non-english public-policy elist?

I do think this forum and others have helped people meet others online to start some face to face efforts. This forum certainly was a major help with RT Rybak's election campaign.

One nit to pick with MPR - they referred to this forum as a website - and it isn't a website. It's an elist with a web archive. The Democratic National Committee's blog is a website:

http://www.democrats.org/blog

It still would be nice for historical purposes to put older archives of this list back on the web. There used to be an archive on yahoogroups, but that got inadvertently changed to private. Seems like that might be a fundable project that could be done with the Historical Society or the University of Minnesota - Humphrey Institute or History Department.
