Sabo Announces $20.1 Million for Minneapolis & St. Paul Urban Security
Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Martin Olav Sabo (DFL-Mpls.) today announced that the Minneapolis area will receive $12.3 million and the St. Paul area will receive $7.8 million under the Department of Homeland Security's Urban Security Area Initiative.
As the top Democrat on the House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Sabo worked directly to appropriate these funds in the FY2004 Homeland Security Appropriations Act.
"The Twin Cities is the economic and cultural center of the Upper Midwest," said Sabo. "Because our diverse metropolitan area offers so many opportunities, local governments have a huge responsibility to invest wisely in public safety initiatives to protect our quality of life. While directed at the core cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, these funds will benefit the entire metropolitan area and the state of Minnesota."
