This is too bad. In my opinion, Steve Brandt goes the extra mile to cover news. While I lived in Central, I saw Steve at many neighborhood meetings - including many that were very boring. He follows not only the Minneapolis Issues list, but also the Central Chat list (and the precursor, cnia-chat). It takes a reporter years to build the history Steve had with the Central Neighborhood. His coverage will be sadly missed.
I second this part of Jay's post:
<<Anybody who wishes to share their thoughts on the removal of Steve Brandt and the importance of covering Minneapolis neighborhoods can contact assistant managing editor Robert Buoen at 612-673-1729, <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED]>>
This is another blow to the Central Neighborhood. Not too long ago, Central's SAFE Officer, Chris Bishop - an outstanding and committed police officer was reassigned to guard the city's water rather than doing what he's done in the neighborhood. I never understood this. Why not assign one of the police officers who have problems dealing with the public to this task?
