Title: FW: health care vs. stadiums
Please note below that Sen. John Marty sets the record straight on his HCMC positions and votes. This in response to a critical email citing Britt Robson’s City Pages piece on the public hospital system in Minneapolis/Hennepin County. It seems disingenuous to me that a leader in a nurses’ organization would use that position to misrepresent Sen. Marty’s position on anything. My experience has John Marty invariably supporting funding and other resources for public institutions. I consider the following statement irresponsible without supporting data:

---------------------------------------
>From David Finke, RN, OCN (Central Neighborhood) Hennepin Comprehensive Cancer
Center & President, Hennepin County Nurses Association, who said (among other things):
“...
I agree, the Robson article was great. The solution is that legislators
like John Marty (who helped to kill bipartisan legislation that would have
allowed HCMC to bill counties when they send their uninsured residents to
HCMC for unreimbursed care) need to act with the integrity to acknowledge
that their own counties must share in footing the bill....”
----------------------------------------

Perhaps Mr. Finke would like to apologize to the senator – and the rest of us or put up the facts that support his claim.

Andy:

I don't know this David Finke, and don't know why he is singling me out, but his information is wrong.  Contrary to his cheapshot,  I supported (and continue to support) allowing Hennepin County to bill other counties when HCMC provides uncompensated care for residents of those counties.
