In her editorial, Ms. Thomas repeatedly asks for integrity. Integrity
is a good thing! A very good thing!!

But this editorial could also use a healthy dose of integrity.

To make generic accusations that "some city leaders misused and abused
their powers. . . some supported intimidation, institutional racism,
corruption, cronyism, trading favors, cliques, lack of accountability,
unethical behavior, and malicious and oppressive tactics and cover-ups"
as well as a
"willingness to be involved in a system that has trampled over the
rights of Minneapolis residents" suggests a real lack of integrity in my
opinion.

Name names! It is grossly unfair to intimate that "some city leaders"
are guilty of these sins because it in fact, smears all city leaders!

Who are the "some"? What specifically did they do?

If in fact the Spokesman-Recorder believes that any city leaders are
involved in or associated with such actions, it is absolutely essential
that they at least identify who and provide at least some evidence or
testimony that these actions occurred.

Accusations of corruption, racism, abuse and misuse of power, unethical
behavior, and cover-ups are very serious allegations. To make these
generalized accusations without naming individuals or providing any
basis for those accusations demonstrates a complete absence of
journalistic integrity. The Spokesman-Recorder can and must do better!

Minneapolis City leaders will be judged during our
next major election based on their ability to shift
the tide of a city with a long history of erosion.
Past experiences with some City leaders have shown
their willingness to be involved in a system that
has trampled over the rights of Minneapolis residents.
Some misused and abused their powers. Some
supported intimidation, institutional racism,
corruption, cronyism, trading favors, cliques, l
ack of accountability, unethical behavior, and
malicious and oppressive tactics and cover-ups.
