Just a reminder to all list members so there is no confusion:

You can express your views here but within the rules. The ones that trip
people up the most are to not be personally insulting and not to wield
inflammatory dialogue.

So everyone knows, I let Steve know after his initial post that a few of his
comments in his previous post tripped the insult meter. (Although Steve was
responding to a post that also tripped the insult meter, all members are
responsible for abiding by the rules no matter how they are provoked. This,
by the way, is one reason we have such rules - insult and inflammatory
rhetoric always feed on each other as the discussion thread rolls on.)

As with other new members who violate the rules, I asked that Steve restrain
himself in the future. (I try to work with all members short of warnings and
suspensions.) At least for now, his subsequent post managed to do that, and
that's a good thing.

Just to reinforce the good things that happen in list discussions, I'd like
to thank Bill Cullen and Dennis Plante (I'm probably forgetting some others)
for their non-inflammatory, fact-based response to Steve Cramer's initial
post.
