First of all my apologies to Mayor Rybak for wrongfully accusing him of initiating the practice of counting shelter beds and mats as affordable housing. Thank you, Mayor Rybak, for changing this practice.
Secondly, my most heartfelt congratulations to Scott Russell and Skyway News for coming out with this story. In this forum, I had been critical of Mr. Russell and Skyway News in the past, but what they've done recently is an excellent example of how journalism can promote discourse and change public policy for the better. Thirdly, my thanks to Margaret Hastings, Allysen Hoberg and other homeless advocates who have worked so hard and for so long on behalf of the homeless. Now that the Mayor has done the right thing and responded gracefully to appropriate public pressure.
