Hmmmmmmmm
Lets analyze this line item a bit further.

The Minneapolis City Council tonight passed Mayor Rybak's proposed 2004 City budget on
an 11-2 vote.

* Establishes stable and ongoing funding for affordable housing. This budget
invests almost $10 million in the Affordable Housing Trust Fund for rental housing and
significant additional funds to assist families with home-ownership.

Might this be reinterpreted as setting aside $10 million of our hard earned tax payer
dollars to line the pockets of a few developers to build more rental housing to
continue keeping our poor poor?

I see plenty of for rent signs, so I dont think we need more units, so maybe we could
use the money for a rent stamp program rather than additional construction. Lets use
this money wisely.

I am glad the city council did something about this issue, but I am not convinced it
will solve any problems. I would much prefer my government try to solve problems
rather than throw money at it and pretent its taken care of. I hope the amount not
mentioned for assisting families with home ownership will accomplish some problem
solving, and I think it can.
