It would be marvelous to have new leadership for 2004 but that 5-4 vote stares one in the face at every turn and makes almost everything impossible to get done on the Park Board. After all with no leadership there needs to be no rules driving this process "wonk" absolutely crazy.
Thanks for the tip though,  Karen,

I don't think anyone has been critical of Mr. Gurban, Marie.  He seems to be a very well qualified individual to be interim Superintendent.  The problem comes with the process used.  It would appear that the only commissioners who had advance notice of Mr. Gurban's appointment were the commissioners who had already indicated they would be in favor.  The others were not given the information until they sat down for the meeting.  I have strong objections to not treating every commissioner the same.  Since leadership already knew they had the majority, I don't see what's wrong with advance notice for everyone.

Mr. Gurban will have a very difficult job stepping into a situation with that kind of division on the board.  Instead of attempting to bring members together, it would appear there is a constant effort to foster the division.

For the good of the people of Minneapolis, someone has to step up to the plate in January when new leadership is elected and work to bring the city the kind of leadership they deserve from our elected officials.
