The redistricting commission - which included Tony and former Park Board chair Scott Neiman as commissioners for drawing parks districts only - drew the ECCO neighborhood out of Bob Fine's 6th district. ECCO is Tracey Nordstrom's neighborhood - Fine's opponent in 2001. (Tracey was put into Vivian Mason's district.) ECCO was one of the few (if not the only; I'm doing this from memory) areas south of Lake and west of 35W to be draw out of the 6th. Some blocks in the SW quadrant needed to go outside of the 6th, but it raised suspicions that Tracey's area was the one to go. As I recall, someone from ECCO - may have been a neighborhood leader - asked the redistricting commission to put the neighborhood in Mason's district. Don't know if this was a genuine request or a pretext for the redistricting decision that was eventually made. David Brauer Kingfield Redistricting geek REMINDERS: 1.
