LH: From what I can see on the Metro Transit map, the 32 route takes you right to the
building. The 20 takes you to the corner of West Broadway and River Road, so you would
need to walk across Broadway Pizza's lot to the HQ. Yes, it's not downtown, where
drivers would pay $5 or so to park in a rampand go to the meeting. Parking is free at
the new HQ, and yes, the bus does take you there. Maybe the problem is the
south-centeredness of our fair city. Come on up north. It's not inaccessible. It's
just in a different part of town.

PS: I've been told that the #20 will be targeted for reduction after light rail gets
into full gear this April. Also, #32 is harder to catch after 6:00 pm, though it runs
approximately every 30 minutes on weekdays during business hours.

As I see it, the problem is not south-centerdedness but auto-centerdness, i.e.,
drivers wreaking needless havoc on the environment, including our parks. It's high
time that more of our office-holders, especially those from the Green and DFL parties,
set a better example for all citizens and start using mass transportation.

As long as downtown doesn't move to South Minneapolis, asking that meetings be held
downtown is not south-centerdness, it's asking that meetings be just as accessible to
those without cars as to those living in different parts of the city.------Peter
