I thought I'd make one more posting on McManus, because it's such a fascinating
subject. What's really fascinating is CUAPB supporting McManus, when they hate every
other cop they've ever met. It's kind of like the Nazi Germany/USSR alliance in the
'30's, and will likely end in a similar fashion. Anyone want to bet on when CUAPB
issues a statement about the great McManus betrayal? My guess is three months from
the day McManus starts.

Jonathan -- Before we hire a new police chief, I would like to see evidence of several
years of decreasing crime levels and decreasing complaints of police brutality, in
whatever jurisdiction the candidate had control over. Truthfully, I don't know if any
of the seven original candidates could show any such evidence, so McManus may be the
best of the bunch. McManus is a mover and shaker, which we need here. But who knows
if he will change things successfully? He doesn't have the proven background I'd like
to see, but he's probably the best we could get given Rybak's proclivity for
politicians. So I'm resigned to McManus, and will hope for the best.
