Organizations of homeless persons and their advocates in other cities have
been starting to document and publicize the harassment and abuse of persons
who are homeless by the police.
Regarding Mpls., I believe that McManus was the best choice for police
chief. He seems to sincerely believe in officers showing respect for each person
they deal with.
I am hopeful that Chief McManus will reach out to all sectors of our
community, including persons living in homelessness and that he will be a change
agent in ending abuse and harasment by Minnapolis Police. ** Not all Mpls
Officers are abusive--- in building takeovers over the years I have experienced
first hand both kindness and respect as well as unnecessary abuse at the hands of
officers.
To the City Council persons who voted no for McManus due to claiming a
belief in gender equality. I hope they decide to widen that view to equality to
all of members of our community-- even those without a home.

Vote NO to poverty and homelessness.
