From what I've heard - the references about religion and God were not in their website originally but were added on when this confrontation started last summer. The schools checked out the website and didn't find anything and that's why they allowed the flyers.
And how do you check? Is a website the answer for a parent - there are people who do not have access to the web believe it or not. And you are assuming everyone has a website. Our organization, ArtiCulture is 3 years old - we didn't have a website in the beginning. We did (and do), however, have our mission statement on our materials, which is exactly what we are.
When parents are signing their children up for classes - soccer, swimming, art classes, dance, music lessons - no one should have to "check out" an organization to see if they have a hidden agenda. They are exactly what is expected - soccer, swimming, art etc. and nothing more. If Urban Ventures were on the up and up about this, they wouldn't have taken the kids to the far corner of the field away from parents' ears to do this. They intentionally hid what they were doing, and believe me, had no intension of cluing the adults into their subversive agenda. If you want to know how it went I can get you in touch with the parent who experienced this - they tried to stop her from going over to see what her daughter was talking about. Personally, I find this extremely disturbing that a parent would be blamed for not checking it out thoroughly enough.

As a parent, it is "MY" job to fully check out any program that my children will be attending, and in regards to lunches being served at the program, again it is my sole responsibility to see to it that my children are eating right, and if that means no pork, then again, it is my job to see if there is any substitute that my child can eat.
